Lifes Beautiful Beginnings
Battering Intervention & Prevention Program (BIPP)
About the Program
If you have been accused or charged with domestic violence, family violence, or assault, you may be required to complete a certified Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP). This may be court-ordered as part of probation, or your attorney may recommend voluntary enrollment before your court date as part of a legal strategy to seek leniency or case dismissal.
BIPP is not just a requirement—it’s an opportunity to understand, interrupt, and change abusive behaviors. Our program helps participants examine the core beliefs, attitudes, and thought patterns that contribute to the use of power, control, and violence in intimate relationships.
What is Battering?
Battering involves the ongoing use of abusive behaviors—physical, emotional, verbal, or psychological—to dominate or control another person. It is not a one-time incident, but a repeated pattern rooted in entitlement and power. Battering can include overt acts like yelling or hitting, as well as subtle tactics such as intimidation, threats, or isolating a partner.
Contrary to common belief, anger is not the cause—it is often used as a tool to manipulate, create fear, and maintain control.
Program Philosophy
Our BIPP is grounded in accountability and self-awareness. Participants engage in structured group sessions that encourage honest reflection, challenge abusive beliefs, and promote healthier relationship behaviors. This is not a support group or counseling session—this is a change-focused, peer-accountability program with proven success in reducing future violence.
